Digital Humanitarian Joins WeRobotics
We’re excited to announce our newest hire! Joyce Monsees joins us as Head of Finance for WeRobotics Global. She comes to us from the Standby Task Force where she served as Finance Director and Deployment Lead. The Task Force was one of the very early pioneers of digital humanitarian action and supports a wide range of humanitarian efforts globally. At the Standby Task Force, Joyce not only had the opportunity to guide the organization financially but to promote their Digital Humanitarian social mission. She has guest lectured at both universities and high schools, and acted as the Task Force’s central point of contact for ABC, NBC, Al Jazeera and local news agencies during humanitarian crises. Joyce also has an article published on how librarians and information professionals have assisted refugees and asylum seekers in Europe.
Joyce was the deployment lead for Standby Task Force during the 2015 Nepal Earthquake and the West Africa Ebola Outbreak of 2014-2016. The former received an overwhelming response from both people volunteering their time to help and people/groups donating water, food, and shelter. The latter was one of the longest lasting efforts by the Standby Task Force, resulting in maps of over 2,000 health facilities and hospitals in Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.
“I am proud to support a team that not only respects local knowledge and experience but celebrates the success of other’s accomplishments. We’ve been born into an era of unlimited potential with today’s technology. It is a privilege to use that technology to better the lives of our global brothers and sisters.” -Joyce
As Head of Finance, Joyce will directly contribute to the overall success of the organization by effectively managing all financial tasks, improving budgeting and coherence across the landscape of WeRobotics Global. We’re thrilled to have Joyce aboard to help us lead to the continued success of WeRobotics!
