TFLphase412Our second “Drone as a Service” Business Incubation Program, organized in Dar es Salaam in collaboration with Tanzania Flying Labs (TFL), the Dar Teknohama Business Incubator (DTBi), and the Tanzania Data Lab (dLab) is moving ahead swiftly!

The first part – the “Ideation phase” – of this 5 month long program has successfully ended with the Idea Pitching Event on August 24th. From over 20 “Drones as a Service” business ideas that we received, 9 were selected to present their pitch in front the local panel of judges. Ideas included environmental monitoring, agricultural mapping, drone training, land surveying, and disaster management, to name only a few.

Four finalist teams will now move on to the next phase of the Business Incubation Program: a five-day business development seminar organized by WeRobotics co-founder Sonja Betschart, and her colleague Laurent Kohler, an economist and business development expert. The seminar will take place at COSTECH in Dar es Salaam from September 18 – 22.

During this week, we will share our knowledge with the finalist teams on how to turn their ideas into solid business plans. Following the seminar, the teams will have 6 weeks to iterate on their business plan and create a final version of their pitch for the last part of the program: the business plan competition. An expert jury will then elect the winner of our Tanzania “Drone as a Service” Business Incubation program!

Find more details on the four teams in our recent post on the Tanzania Flying Labs website
