Our first Business Incubation Program in Nepal has come to an end with an exciting Final competition that was held at our partner NEA’s offices in Kathmandu on May 26, 2017. The winner of our first program is Team DroNepal!

The four final teams - Airlift, DroNepal, KalpaBrikshya and Maphub - faced each other at this pitching event to elect the winner of our competition. Each team had 2 minutes to pitch their business in front of the jury and a public of over 70 people, and were then delivering their best answers to the jury who challenged them with questions for 10 minutes following their pitch.

Discover the video pitches of our other three finalist teams here:

Each member of the jury evaluated the teams from a different perspective: Janak Raj Joshi, our Technical Expert, looking at their business from a technical angle, Abhaya Poudel, our Finance Expert, evaluating the financial side of their business, Bibhusan Bista, our Innovation Expert, challenging the innovative aspect of each team’s business and Gisli Olafsson, our Jury President and member of WeRobotics’ board, giving his overall view and holistic appreciation. It was a difficult task for the four jury members to elect the final winner, seen the highly professional pitches, business and financial plans, and level of ease in the answers to the jury’s questions.

After intensive deliberations by the jury, the final winner was elected. We are very proud and congratulate Team DroNepal for their success in winning our first Business Incubation competition. The Final ceremony was concluded with Hon. Ramesh Lekhak, Chief Guest and Nepal's Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, handing over the final prize, worth USD 7’5000, to Team DroNepal.

We would like to congratulate not only the winning team, but all four finalist teams who have done an outstanding job over the last 5 weeks, putting together highly professional business plans and preparing compelling pitches. We wish all four teams lots of success in their future and are proud to have been able to host them in our first Business Incubation Program. We look forward to following each team in their future, and are convinced that all four businesses will be successful.

Our high appreciation also goes to the four members of the jury. We thank them for investing their valuable time and sharing their expertise with us and the four final teams. And we extend our gratitude to our local partners of this program, the Nepal Engineers' Association and Robotics Association of Nepal who have helped us over the four last months to make this program a success.
